Polar Express Digital BreakoutIf you are looking for a challenging yet fun holiday activity to get in the holiday spirit, look no further! This Polar Express Digital Breakout promotes critical thinking and lends to sparking student creativity.
How to Play: 1. Choose the link appropriate for your grade level (the only difference is the level of the math problems)
2. As the teacher, print out the Polar Express Breakout Answers and then play the activity yourself first. Believe me, playing through the breakout first is essential. It took my awhile to get all of my answers correct :) 3. Explain the digital breakout concept to your students.
4. Decide if this will be whole class or group activity. This is not recommended to be played individually.
5. Watch the video on the Polar Express. The story plays very quickly. For younger students, I recommend pausing and interjecting with class discussion ever so often. 6. Begin trying to solve the puzzles by clicking on the different images on the webpage. You can guide students as much or as little as you see fit for their ability levels. 7. Enter answers into the Google Form as each puzzle is solved. If the answer is incorrect, the form will say "Try Again". 8. Click Submit once all answers appear to be correct. Extensions of Lesson

This is a great activity that students will ask to play over and over again. If you wish to do this in your class, but aren't sure how to get started, please let me know. I will be more than happy to assist or help co-teach as students play! Disclaimer: Digital Breakouts are addicting!
